Pigsa (Boils) - Treatments, Myth and other Alternatives

Ano nga ba ang pigsa? Bakit ba nagkakaroon nito?

Ayon sa DOH, boil is a pus filled infection of the skin. It usually starts as an infection in a hair follicle and spreads in the surrounding area.

Misconceptions

There is no such thing as 'maduming dugo'.

Since medical professional tayo,  Ang pinaka magandang advise is to consult the doctor. Pero pwede ding uminom ng Over the counter.

Cloxacillin 2x a day for 7 days. Ito ang nirereseta ng mga doktor. (usually)
Apply Warm compress to alleviate pain and facilitate ripening (paghinog)

The Alternative

There's this thing na tinatawag na Koyo/Coyo, which is a paper na may color green na nasa loob. Kailangan sya initin para maliquify yung green, tsaka mo sya ilalagay dun sa mismong pigsa. I tried this one and this is really effective.

Still on NURSES: The Journey Ahead

Nurses in the Phillipines were left behind. Almost 200,000 nurses are unemployed. What to do?

First, Complete your trainings and add more seminars. Make yourself competent among others.

As for me, We were from the middle class family but still, I cannot afford to waste money on trainings. Thats why almost a year I stayed at home. Yes, bum.  I went on searching for job opportunities. Call Center and Nursing Jobs abroad. I then realizeed that jobs abroad needs 1-2 years of experience. It came to  my thinking that  I should better work as a volunteer.

Palakasan or Backer System is still a must. You have to have one to be able to be trained for free. or to have allowance. Some hospitals have fees for their trainings.  Yes, Its tough. Its very tough. All we need is a little patience.

Comes 2020, Nurses are in demand again. because BABY BOOMER GENERATION retires.
Because of this, I want to specialized in Geriatrics and Oncology. 300k/month salary? not bad. But we have to waittttttt...

While others are busy on their jobs, yes they are earning, but in the long run, Volunteers will make a difference.

I wrote this to encourage unemployed nurses to not lose hope. Hope it will help.

Just a little Patience Dear Nurses, More Patience. Our time will come and We will Shine.

Sana nag Medtech, Pharm, Bio o PT nalang ako.

2010 ako nung grumaduate, the same year kumuha na din ako ng NLE, salamat naman at pumasa agad ako, tuwang tuwa ang pamilya ko dahil ang akala nila makakatulong na ako. Mali sila ng akala. Pati ako.

Soon after you passed the board, Kailangan mong magparegister para maisama ang name mo sa mga roster of professionals.

  • 3-Day Basic IV Therapy Training (3year ID validity)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (1year ID validity)

Imagine that. We should get paid for our professional service, What is the difference of a volunteer and a staff Nurse when they have the same tasks and workload?

Over 300,000 Nurses (more or less)  are unemployed, underemployed. Sen. Franklin Drilon promises 12,500 new jobs for nurses over the months. But what about the rest? Dr. Barcelon, the president of PNA,  says that its best to look for Alternatives. Some of these are:

Medical Transcriptionist
Clinical Research Assistant
Company Nurse
TeleNurse (BPO nurses)

Here are the Requirements :

  1. Duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyunal   Download Oath Form here
  2. Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)
  3. Two (2) pieces passport size pictures with name tag (for Oath Form and Certificate of Registration)
  4. One (1) piece 1”x1” picture in plain background with complete name tag (for Registry of Professionals)
  5. Two sets of metered documentary stamps (for Oath Form and Certificate of Registration)
  6. One (1) short brown envelope with name and professional.

Yes, Being a Nurse is the most noblest profession, pero sana we also get the same noblest treatment that we deserve. Mali ang akala nyo.

Dirtier than the Toilet.

Have you ever thought about one thing that is dirtier than the toilet?  Feces? Spoiled Food? Garbage?

None of the above.

As Im watching The Doctors in Lifestyle Network, They have discussed this.

There's a British Study that your Cellular Phone is Dirtier than the toilet. Yes you heard it right.

The results revealed that 25 percent exceeded the acceptable TVC by 10 times and have 18 times the TVC as a handle on a public restroom toilet. The Which? magazine study suggests that 14.7 million of the 63 million phones being used in the U.K. could pose a health risk, the report said.
“Most phones didn’t have any immediate harmful bacteria that would make you sick straight away, but they were grubbier than they could be,” said Ceri Stanaway, a researcher with Which? magazine.

The phone with the most bacteria had more than ten times the acceptable level, as well as 39 times the safe level of enterobacteria, which includes Salmonella.
“What this shows is how easy it is to come into contact with bacteria,” Stanaway said. “People see toilet flushes as being something dirty to touch, but they have less bacteria than phones.”

The tests also found E. coli and staphylococcus aureus, among other food poisoning bugs, but at safe levels. There was also 170 times the acceptable level of the bacteria associated with human waste, fecal coliforms.
“People need to be mindful of that by observing good hygiene themselves and among others who they pass the phone to when looking at photos, for example,” Stanaway said.

Imagine that. When I heard of it, Iam became OC and disinfects my phone every now and then. Make it a habit too. :)

Dengue on the rise.

As of Today, Dengue is one of the most outrageous communicable diseases. It is declared by the DOH that Ilocos Sur be declared under state of Calamity due to Dengue Outbreak.

So What is Dengue and How do we know if we have it and How to prevent it?

Transmission

Aedes aegypti, the transmitter of the disease, is a day-biting mosquito which lays eggs in clear and stagnant water found in flower vases, cans, rain barrels, old rubber tires, etc. The adult mosquitoes
rest in dark places of the house.

Aedes Aegypti

Signs and Symptoms
Sudden onset of high fever which may last 2 to 7 days.
Joint & muscle pain and pain behind the eyes.
Weakness
Skin rashes - maculopapular rash or red tiny spots on the skin called petechiae
Nosebleeding when fever starts to subside
Abdominal pain
Vomiting of coffee-colored matter
Dark-colored stools

Hematoma (Stage 4)
Prevention and Control
Cover water drums and water pails at all times to prevent mosquitoes from breeding.
Replace water in flower vases once a week.
Clean all water containers once a week. Scrub the sides well to remove eggs of mosquitoes sticking to the sides.
Clean gutters of leaves and debris so that rain water will not collect as breeding places of mosquitoes.
Old tires used as roof support should be punctured or cut to avoid accumulation of water.
Collect and dispose all unusable tin cans, jars, bottles and other items that can collect and hold water.

Based on my knowledge, Dengue is of 4 strains, and once you are recovered to one, you are not
immune to others. How Dreadful.

Noob.

Oh hey, I just thought of creating another blog. I have account in Tumblr but Iam not satisfied. I dreamt of being a writer and Lets see what I can write. My posts will be in English or Taglish. Hope I will gain readers.
